Do you need padding for carpet tiles?

Carpet tiles are placed directly on your floor, which should,of course, be level.
There is no need for padding and when you come to replace worn or damaged tiles it is a simple process of replacing those with new ones.

Carept tiles are usually much cheaper than using regular carpeting.
The built-in savings are that there is no need for underlay or adhesives.
Also in the event of damage, you can easily change a few tiles without having to recover your entire floor area.

Do you need underlay for carpet tiles?

The only siutation in which you need underlay is if you have a rough concreate floor.
Here you would use a levelling compound to even it out before laying your tiles.

Are carpet tiles suitable for bathrooms?

Accepted Answer

The biggest problem for bathroom tiles is moisture which causes mildew.
If you buy top quality tiles there is some degree of water resistance.
You could also try using a mild bleach cleaner.
If these do not solve the problem, then the worst tiles can be replaced at far less cost than recovering the entire floor and certainly less expensive than having your floor steam cleaned.
